Thank you for looking at my website , I am Mark Bartholomew and my Driving School is PassMark Driver Training . I started my Driving School in Rishworth in 2005 and in 2025 I am celebrating 20 years of teaching people to drive. My car is an Automatic Hybrid Renault Clio. I am a Grade A Driving Instructor providing tuition for residents around the Rishworth , Ripponden , Soyland , Triangle and Barkisland areas . An assessment score of 43 out of 51 is required for a Driving Instructor to achieve the highest grade A . My last inspection achieved a score of 49 out of 51. I have been teaching driving since 2005 having previously been an Area Manager for a Bank. I am proud of 10 of my students who passed with a clean sheet - no faults at all - statistically rare.

Prices Despite my high grading score I keep my prices close to the Yorkshire average. The DVSA have published their latest prices survey at the end of 2024 . To see the prices survey click here . COVID19 disruption and the recent large increases in cost of living has affected prices and there are now bigger differences in prices being charged by Driving Schools . Automatic prices around Halifax tend to be around £40 or more an hour . Please contact other instructors to confirm their prices and if they quote a "lesson" price then check the duration - my lessons are 90 minutes whereas some still do 60 minute lessons which can then seem cheaper because of the shorter lesson time. Please contact me for up to date prices as changes are happening more frequently due to petrol and car insurance price changes. I give a discount if you pay for 6 hours in advance.

Lesson Times My lessons last 90 minutes to allow adequate learning and development time. I give my students a regular weekly set time slot to coincide with their college timetables & part time work . From September 2023 I work a 4 day week and that is Tuesday to Friday only.
I do not work evenings or Saturdays, Sundays or Mondays.
Lessons are available starting from 9am with the last lesson finishing by 515pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. On a Friday I work 9am to 1230pm.

Driving Test On your first lesson I give free online access to additional training.

Private practice Car Insurance
Marmalade offer specialised insurance if you wish to use your own car or a parents car for private practice with options including cover for just one month and cover for when you pass . Other companies can provide similar cover and you should compare before making your own decision

We hold any messages you send via email , text message or social media (facebook) for the purposes of giving you information that you request and as a record of any information you provide.

When you learn to drive we are required to hold details of your name , address , phone number and an email address if provided . Any medical disclosures that may affect your ability to drive and your driving licence number are held to ensure you are covered by our insurance whilst learning to drive. We also complete weekly lesson reviews to record your progress . Your Driving Licence number , lesson review and medical disclosures are held in paper form only.

Photographs of your test success will be posted on facebook with your permission and may be used for marketing purposes by Passmark Driver Training.

We will not share your data for marketing purposes with any third party.

We will share your data when necessary with legal professional advisers including the DVSA , Accountants , Bank and the Inland Revenue.

We will only retain your personal data for as long as necessary for the purposes we collected it for, including any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements.
When deciding how long the data is held then for tax purposes the law requires us to keep basic information about our customers (including Contact, Identity, Financial and Transaction Data) for six years after they stop being customers.
